Definitely sell the level 2 apples. But the level 1s are basically always worth more if you 5 merge them. (Via gold coins and egg chests) Selling the lv 3 apples is what I'd recommend. but definitely merge up the lv 1 and 2 apples; as the gold coins make it immensely more valuable than selling the apples is.
